Scheduled opening day: Dec. 12

It's that time of year - time to check the weather forecast 10 times a day, do those snow dances every morning and go to sleep whispering prayers to the snow gods. That's right, it's almost time for skiing or snowboarding at Homewood.

Our snowmaking crews are busy blowing snow at every chance they get these days, and we'll update you on their progress here. Currently the resort is scheduled to open on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014 (conditions permitting). Of course, we'll do everything we can to open earlier if Mother Nature provides the snow to make it possible. So stay tuned, and keep thinking snowy thoughts.

And if you want to geek out on weather forecasts like us, here are a couple we follow:

New for 2014-15: Homewood Snowcat Adventures

Homewood Snowcat AdventuresHomewood Snowcat Adventures will debut this winter on 750+ acres of backcountry terrain on the flanks of Ellis Peak, pending U.S. Forest Service permits to operate on public lands above the resort’s traditional ski area boundary. The new snowcat operation will transport skiers and snowboarders from the top of the Ellis or Old Homewood Express chairs to the 8,740-foot summit of Ellis Peak, where groups of up to 10 skiers and riders will enjoy guided access to a wide variety of terrain options – from perfectly-spaced tree runs to steeps, powder bowls and intermediate-level glades – all leading guests back to the in-bounds terrain at the resort.

Season pass holder discounts: Homewood season pass holders will receive a $100 discount off the cost of all-day snowcat touring packages this winter, making a trip into the untracked snow above the resort that much easier this winter. Click here for full details.
